Volleyball Picks up One Win on Opening Day at Endicott

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Susquehanna women’s volleyball team opened competition at the two-day Endicott Invitational by earning a split with one win and one loss.

SU (3-3) won its opening match against host Endicott by a 3-1 mark (22-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-13). The Crusaders then fell 3-0 against Gallaudet (17-25, 17-25, 22-25) in their second match of the tournament.

Against the Gulls, senior Emily Carson (Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) picked up a double-double with 14 kills and 16 digs. Jess Holm (Montvale, N.J./Pascack Hills) added 13 kills of her own and hit for a .273 attack percentage.

Julia Caruso (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) and Morgan Whiteman (Camp Hill, Pa./Trinity) combined for 35 assists with Caruso accounting for 21 of them. Hayley Dunkel (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville Area) had two solo blocks, one block assist and two service aces.

The Crusaders have two more matches on Saturday as they take on Williams at 12 p.m. and Middlebury at 2 p.m.
