Volleyball Loses a Tough One to Frostburg State

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Despite going up 2-0 over Frostburg State on the opening day of New York University’s Violet Classic, the Susquehanna women’s volleyball team could not put the match away and fell 3-2.

SU (5-11) fell 25-16, 25-14, 24-26, 23-25, 14-16 to Frostburg State (1-14).

Emily Carson (Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) did pick up 21 kills and 15 digs to go along with three service aces, one solo block and six block assists. She finished the match with a .320 attack percentage.

Sarah Paluck (Nesquehoning, Pa./Tamaqua Area) led the squad with 22 digs while Morgan Whiteman (Camp Hill, Pa./Trinity) added 10 of her own in addition to her team-high 25 assists. Julia Caruso (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) also finished with a double-digit assist total with 17 while adding nine digs.

The Crusaders wrap-up play at the tournament with two matches on Saturday. They face Wesleyan (Conn.) at 10 a.m. followed by a 2 p.m. match against North Park.
