
SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Susquehanna women’s
volleyball team defeated Penn State-Altoona 3-0 in a rare, Monday
night match which also marked Senior Night for the program.
The Crusaders (16-17) hosted the Nittany Lions (8-20) in their
final home match of the regular season and came away with the
three-set victory, 27-25, 25-17 and 25-14.
Emily Carson (Caldwell, N.J. / James Caldwell)
finished with a game-high 11 kills and a .323 attack
percentage. Julia Caruso (Collegeville, Pa. /
Perkiomen Valley) finished with a game-best 28 assists,
five digs, five kills and a .833 attack percentage.
Freshmen Sarah Paluck (Nesquehoning, Pa. / Tamaqua
Area) and Morgan Whiteman (Camp Hill, Pa./
Trinity) recorded 12 and 10 digs, respectively.
Prior to the start of the match, the team honored its four senior
members: Carson, Dana
Kreutzer, Kaylee Monga and
Kristin Shanabrook. In between the second and
third sets, the team recognized several SU professors for Faculty
Appreciation Night.
On Oct. 26-27, the team heads to the Southwestern (Texas)
Tournament for four matches in two days. SU then returns home on
Oct. 31 to host Scranton at 7 p.m. in a Landmark Conference
quarterfinal match.
