Carson Named to AVCA Mid-Atlantic All-Region Team

LEXINGTON, Ky. – A player on the Susquehanna volleyball team received national recognition as outside hitter Emily Carson (Caldwell, N.J. / James Caldwell) was named to the 2012 AVCA Division III Mid-Atlantic All-Region Team announced Thursday.

Carson is the first SU member to be named to the All-Region Team since Kerri Eshleman in 2004.

A four-time All-Landmark Conference selection, Carson earned her second-straight First-Team honor after finishing the season with a team-high 452 kills (3.23/set). She was second on SU with 299 digs, third with 109 total blocks, dished out 96 assists and recorded 28 service aces. Carson finished 2012 ranked second in the league in hitting percentage (.321) and kills (3.57 per set).

For her career, Carson recorded 1,484 kills, the third-best mark in program history, and her 4,378 attack attempts ranks second all-time. She ranks third all-time in block assists (266), total blocks (336) and points (1,786). Carson finished with 1,158 career digs and became only the second player in school history to record at least 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in a career.

Carson led the Crusaders (17-22, 3-3) to the No. 4 seed in the conference tournament, defeating the University of Scranton 3-0 in the quarterfinals before falling to Juniata 3-1 in the semifinals.
