SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Volleyball and men’s soccer are represented as the Pepsi/SAAC Super Crusaders for the period ending Sept. 15 as freshman setter Maggie O’Hearn (Mountville, Pa. / Hempfield) and senior goalkeeper Matt Salsman (Selinsgrove, Pa. / Selinsgrove Area) have been selected.
O’Hearn has been instrumental in the Crusaders’ 12-2, the team’s best start since 2001. The freshman has played in every match and has accumulated 492 assists (9.84 per set) which is tops in the Landmark Conference, while recording a team-best 27 service aces in addition to 118 digs, 29 kills and 13 total blocks. Last week, O’Hearn helped the Crusaders to a 5-1 mark while registering 203 assists, 12 service aces and 60 digs.
O’Hearn and the volleyball team will compete in the Stevenson Tri-Match on Saturday.
Salsman helped SU upset No. 4 York last Saturday, 1-0, by making a crucial save in the waning seconds to keep the Spartans off the board and retain the clean sheet, his first shutout of the season.
This year, Salsman is 3-1 with a 0.75 goals-against average, a .824 save percentage and has 14 saves.
Salsman and the men’s soccer squad host Lebanon Valley on Wednesday at 7 p.m. and begin Landmark Conference play by hosting Merchant Marine on Saturday at 12 p.m.
