TOWSON, Md. – Susquehanna freshman Erin Byrne (San Diego, Calif./Scripps Ranch) has been named the Landmark Conference Volleyball player of the Week, announced Monday afternoon.
Byrne and the Crusaders went 4-0 last week, winning every match by 3-0 decisions. Byrne finished the week with 38 kills (3.45 kps), a .452 attack percentage, 18 digs, 13 service aces and three block assists.
The team opened the week with a 3-0 win over visiting Lancaster Bible where Byrne had eight kills and five service aces. SU then traveled to the PSU-Abington Tournament and picked up wins over PSU-Abington, Alvernia and Ursinus.
Against the Lions, Byrne finished with 12 kills and four digs while adding eight kills, three service aces and seven digs against Alvernia. In the weekend's final match, she picked up 10 more kills, five service aces and seven digs in a win over the Bears.
So far this season, Byrne has appeared in all 34 matches and leads the team with 358 kills (3.25 kps), is hitting for a .235 attack percentage and also has a team-high 70 service aces to go along with 23 digs and 64 blocks.
The Crusaders return to action on Nov. 2 at the PSU-Harrisburg Tri-Match.
