HUNTINGDON, Pa. – After securing the No. 2 seed in the 2013 Landmark Conference tournament, the Susquehanna volleyball team will face No.3 seed Catholic tonight at 8 p.m. at Juniata’s Kennedy Sports & Recreation Center.
The Crusaders (28-8, 4-1 Landmark) already set the program record for single-season wins this year, surpassing the 27 victories in 2008. SU defeated the Cardinals (23-14, 3-2 Landmark) 3-1 in the second round robin tournament on Oct. 19 in Washington D.C.
In that match, junior Hayley Dunkel (Pottsville, Pa. / Pottsville Area) recorded a season-high 18 kills (.395 attack pct.) while freshman Maggie O’Hearn (Mountville, Pa. / Hempfield) provided a career-high 48 assists to lead SU.
This is the fourth meeting between the two programs in the league semifinals as SU defeated Catholic in 2009 through 2011, all 3-0 victories.
The winner of the match will face the winner of the 5:30 semifinal contest between No. 1 seed Juniata and No. 4 seed Scranton with the championship being played on Saturday at 3 p.m.
Admission to Friday’s match is $5 for adults and $3 for non-Landmark students and seniors. Landmark students, faculty and staff will receive free admission with a valid University ID. Children 10 and under will also receive free admission.
