Dunkel, Crowe Selected as Pepsi/SAAC Super Crusaders

SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Volleyball and men's cross country are represented as the Pepsi/SAAC Super Crusaders for the period ending Sept. 28. Senior Hayley Dunkel (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville Area) and junior John Crowe (Boalsburg, Pa./State College Area) have been tabbed for the award.

Dunkel recorded 12 blocks (two solo, 10 assists) in a 2-1 week for the team with wins over Landmark Conference opponents Moravian and Elizabethtown. She currently leads the Landmark in block assists with 57 and blocks per set with 1.05, while her 69 total blocks are good for second in the conference.

The middle hitter also added 15 kills, including eight in a 3-0 sweep of Elizabethtown, and recorded a .239 hitting percentage on the week. The Crusaders boast a 15-6 record and rank third in the conference standings.

Crowe finished seventh overall on the 8k course at Saturday's Lock Haven Invitational with a personal-best time of 25:43.5. Competing in a 199-runner field, he beat his previous PR by eight seconds. The team placed second overall and was the top-finishing Division III squad by a wide margin.

The volleyball team plays two more conference matches on Saturday, Oct. 4 against Goucher and Catholic in Towson, Md., while the SU harriers will compete at Lehigh University's Paul Short Run on Oct. 4.
