Dunkel Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Susquehanna senior middle hitter Hayley Dunkel (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville Area) has been named to the Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, announced Thursday afternoon. This marks the first-ever Academic All-District honor for the program.

Dunkel, a four-year starter for the Crusaders, has appeared in 37 matches for SU this season. She currently boasts 173 kills, a team-best 100 blocks, 26 service aces and 70 digs. Her 100 blocks are tied for third-best in the Landmark Conference. Dunkel is also hitting for a .252 attack percentage, second-best on the team.

Susquehanna stands at 30-8 on the season, marking a program record for single season victories. The Crusaders went 6-1 in Landmark Conference play this fall to secure the No. 2 seed in the tournament.

On Nov. 4, SU defeated Scranton 3-0 in a semifinal matchup to advance to the championship game on Nov. 8 where Susquehanna will face No. 1 seed Juniata at 5 p.m. in Huntingdon, Pa.

The national CoSIDA Academic All-America teams will be released later this fall.
