Five Named All-Conference for Volleyball

TOWSON, Md. – Five members of the Susquehanna women's volleyball team received postseason honors from the Landmark Conference with two Crusaders on the first team and three on the second team.

Sophomore outside hitter Erin Byrne (San Digeo, Calif./Scripps Ranch) and junior libero Sarah Paluck (Nesquehoning, Pa./Tamaqua Area) were named to the All-Landmark Conference First Team for the second consecutive season while junior outside hitter Morgan Whiteman (Camp Hill, Pa./Trinity), senior middle hitter Hayley Dunkel (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville Area) and sophomore setter Maggie O'Hearn (Mountville, Pa./Hempfield) received Second Team honors.

Byrne followed up her 2013 Rookie of the Year season with more of the same, recording a team-high 352 kills (2.73 per set) in addition to 300 digs, 64 total blocks and 58 service aces.

Paluck, the reigning Landmark Specialist of the Year, led the conference with 5.05 digs per set and 666 total digs and tallied 51 service aces, second-best on the team.

Whiteman had the best season of her career this fall. She appeared in all 39 of Susquehanna's matches and her 3.02 kills per set average led all SU players. In addition, her 314 kills were second-best on the team.

Coming off of a First-Team All-Landmark selection in 2013, Dunkel was again strong in the middle with 102 total blocks (18 solo, 84 assisted) and a conference-leading 0.89 blocks per set average. The senior accounting major was also named to the Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, the first such honor in program history.

O'Hearn finished second in the Landmark with 1092 assists and led the Crusaders with a .281 hitting percentage behind 100 kills and 25 errors on 267 attempts.

The team posted a program-best 30 wins and advanced to its sixth Landmark Conference final in seven years under the guidance of head coach Kuuipo Tom.
