Barry, O’Hearn Selected as Pepsi/SAAC Super Crusaders

SELINSGROVE, PA. – Football and volleyball are represented in the Pepsi/SAAC Super Crusaders for the period ending Sept. 7 as junior linebacker Jim Barry (Staten Island, N.Y. / Brooklyn Poly Prep) and sophomore setter Maggie O'Hearn (Mountville, Pa. / Hempfield) have been honored.

Barry recorded a team-high 14 tackles (10 solo) in Saturday's 42-13 loss to Lycoming to go with a fumble recovery and a pass breakup.

O'Hearn was instrumental in leading SU to a title at the team's Ninth Annual Hampton Inn Crusader Classic as the Crusaders went 4-0 on the weekend and dropped only one set out of 13 played. She was named the Tournament MVP a week after receiving All-Tournament Team honors at the Haverford Invitational.

As a starter in all four matches over the weekend, O'Hearn compiled 118 assists (9.08 per set), 11 kills, 31 digs, and six total blocks. She achieved an impressive .700 hitting percentage in Friday's match against Misericordia with seven kills in 10 attempts and had a double-double with 28 digs and 11 assists in Saturday's 3-1 win over St. Vincent.

Barry and the football team will host nationally-ranked Johns Hopkins on Saturday, Sept. 13 at 1:00 p.m. The Centennial Conference opener at Stagg Field will be televised by Fox56. Volleyball will travel to Williamsport for the Lycoming Invitational on Friday, Sept. 12 and Saturday, Sept. 13 for matches against Pitt.-Bradford, Houghton, York (Pa.) and Elmira.
