Byrne Named 2015 AVCA All-America Honorable Mention

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Susquehanna junior volleyball player Erin Byrne has been named a 2015 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III All-America Honorable Mention, released Tuesday.

Byrne is the first SU volleyball player to be name an All-America Honorable Mention since Emily Carson '13 in 2012.

A three-time All-Landmark Conference selection, Byrne earned her third straight first-team accolade this past season and in 2013 was the Rookie of the Year. Byrne, a right-side hitter, was also a 2015 First-Team North Region selection.

The junior finished the year with 348 kills, a 3.52 kills per set average and totaled 49 blocks, 274 digs and 43 service aces.

In her career, Byrne has played in 354 sets, totaled 1,103 kills, 848 digs, 168 services aces and 183 total blocks.

Byrne led the Crusaders (26-10, 6-1) to a No. 2 seed in the conference tournament, defeating the University of Scranton 3-0 in the semifinals before falling to, at the time, nationally ranked No. 2 Juniata 3-2 in the final.
