Win Streak Continues for SU Volleyball

THE QUICK STORY: The Susquehanna volleyball team won its fifth-straight match with a 3-0 win over visiting Franklin & Marshall College on Wednesday night in the first of a five-match homestand.

RECORDS: Not only did the River Hawks improve to 7-2 but they also handed the Diplomats their first loss of the season (7-1).

INSIDE THE STATS: Susquehanna won each set by at least nine points (25-16, 25-11, 25-16). Morgan Lowe and Erin Byrne had eight kills apiece while Lowe and Caroline Beohm tallied 11 digs each. Maggie O'Hearn led all players with her 22 assists while also adding nine digs, falling just one dig shy of a double-double. Leana Carvin had three blocks (one solo, two assisted).

FOR F&M: Sarah Landry had a team-best seven kills for a squad that had a -.057 attack percentage.

OPENING SET: Franklin & Marshall briefly led 3-2 before an 8-3 run put SU ahead 11-5. The Diplomats got within four (17-13) but pulled no closer over the remainder of the set.

: The set was tied at six in the early going before a Franklin & Marshall attack error handed Susquehanna a 7-6 lead, one SU did not relinquish for the remainder of the set.

MATCH POINT: SU closed out the match victory on a Diplomats service error. The River Hawks had briefly trailed in the set when F&M jumped out to a 7-5 lead, but Byrne tied it at eight on a kill and SU never again trailed.

UP NEXT: Susquehanna hosts the Hampton Inn River Hawks Classic Sept. 16-17. SU opens competition on Friday with a 5 p.m. match against Nazareth and a 9 p.m. match against Frostburg State.
