QUICK HIT: The Susquehanna volleyball team won two Landmark Conference matches on Saturday as the River Hawks hosted in round robin number two.
WHO DID THEY PLAY? The first match of the day featured the Blue Jays of Elizabethtown and the River Hawks. SU won in three (25-9, 25-14, 26-24). Susquehanna played Moravian College in the last match of the day and won in straight sets (25-15, 25-11, 25-15). SU is now 16-4 overall and 3-1 in Landmark action while Elizabethtown falls to 4-14, 0-4 and Moravian is 9-10, 1-3.
AGAINST E-TOWN: In set one, SU jumped to an early lead and never looked back, winning 25-9. In set two, Elizabethtown was ahead 9-7 before SU went on an 18-5 run that ended the set at 25-14. Set three was closer as the game was tied seven times before the River Hawks won 26-24.
AGAINST MORAVIAN: In set one, Susquehanna jumped out to an early 7-1 lead before Moravian came within four (10-6) on a Mary Zacher kill. That was the closest the Greyhounds came for the remainder of the set as SU won 25-15.
In set two, the River Hawks scored seven unanswered points at the beginning before Moravian managed to get on the board. However, it was not enough as SU went on an 18-10 run to end the set 25-11. The Greyhounds scored first in the second set but an attacking error gave SU a 3-2 lead. After tying the game at 13, SU proceeded to go on a 12-3 run to win 25-15.
WHAT'S NEXT? The River Hawks travel to Lycoming on Friday, October 7 for a tri-match in which they play Lycoming at 2:00 p.m. and Rochester at 4:00 p.m.
