QUICK HIT: The Susquehanna volleyball team finished second in the Landmark Conference tournament as they fell 3-0 to nationally ranked No. 9 Juniata in the conference championship Saturday night.
RECORDS: Susquehanna is 31-7 on the season while Juniata is 24-6.
DID YOU KNOW? This is the eighth time in 10 years that the Susquehanna volleyball team has competed in the Landmark Conference championship match. This is also the first time in program history that the senior class has played in four consecutive conference championship matches.
HOW IT HAPPENED? In the first set of the night, the River Hawks took a 6-3 lead on a Maggie O'Hearn kill. However, Juniata followed with a 10-2 run to take a five-point lead (13-8). SU came within four (17-13) on an Eagles' attacking error but it was the closest they came in the remainder of the set as Juniata won 25-18.
Juniata took a six-point lead (12-6) in the second set before Susquehanna scored three unanswered points on two kills from Morgan Lowe and a Juniata attacking error to pull within three (12-9). Unfortunately, Juniata proceeded to out-score the River Hawks 13-7 on their way to a 25-16 set victory.
In the third set, Susquehanna overcame a six-point deficit (10-4) to come within two on an attacking error from Juniata to make it 17-15 in the Eagles' favor. The River Hawks out-scored Juniata 7-6 to come within one (23-22) but it was not enough as Juniata won the set 25-22.
