Senior Morgan Lowe had her third 20-kill effort this season for the Susquehanna University Volleyball team but it was not enough as Stevenson University battled back from an early deficit to post a 3-1 victory on the first day of competition at the 12th Annual Hampton Inn River Hawk Classic Volleyball Tournament Friday night in O.W. Houts Gymnasium in Selinsgrove.
Stevenson (11-0) dropped the opening set as Susquehanna (5-5) won a 25-21 decision to take an early 1-0 lead.
The Mustangs rebounded for a 25-17 win in the second set and narrowly took the third set with a 25-23 win before capping the victory with a 25-20 win in the fourth set.
Lowe had 20 kills and just three errors with 50 attacks to finish with a .350 attack percentage. She also had 10 digs to complete her double-double while Kasey Bost added a team-best 11 digs for the defense. Tara Mahoney was credited with seven blocks and setters Gabby Davis (13 assists) and Julie Kreutzer (16 assists) split the setting.
Kreutzer, Bost and Hannah Lyons had two aces each from the service line.
The River Hawks are back in action at Noon Saturday against Carnegie Mellon and again at 6 p.m. against The College at Brockport as competition continues in the Hampton Inn River Hawk Classic.
