Hannah Lyons registered 12 kills and seven blocks while Morgan Lowe added 16 kills and 14 digs to lead the Susquehanna University Volleyball team to a four-set victory over Eastern University Saturday afternoon in the final match of a tri-match with Eastern and Johns Hopkins in O.W. Houts Gymnasium in Selinsgrove.
Susquehanna (7-7) dropped the first set to Eastern (9-6) as the Eagles won a close 26-24 opening set. The River Hawks rebounded to win the next three sets by scores of 25-15, 26-24 and 25-16.
Earlier in the day, Susquehanna dropped a three-set decision to Johns Hopkins by set scores of 25-23, 25-20 and 25-18.
In the Johns Hopkins match, Lowe led the way with 13 kills and nine digs while Lyons added 11 kills and freshman Sydney Portale chipped in 10 kills. Helen Forman dished out 34 assists and Tara Mahoney recorded four blocks while Caroline Beohm finished with nine digs.
In the win over Eastern, Lowe's double-double led the River Hawks followed by Lyons whith her 12 kills and seven blocks, Portale with nine kills and five blocks and Kasey Bost with 12 digs. Forman handed out 37 assists.
The River Hawks are back in action Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. hosting Muhlenberg at O.W. Houts Gym and play at Lycoming the following night.
