Volleyball Comeback Falls Short Against Muhlenberg

Morgan Lowe recorded her ninth double-double of the season with 10 kills and 12 digs for the Susquehanna University Volleyball team but it was not enough as Muhlenberg College won the first two sets and came from behind to win the fourth set to take a 3-1 victory Tuesday night in a non-conference match in O.W. Houts Gymnasium in Selinsgrove.

The Mules (14-2) took the first two sets by scores of 25-21 and 25-17 before Susquehanna (7-8) rebounded to post a 25-17 win in the third set. The River Hawks fell behind early in the fourth set but battled back to tie the set at 12-12. The Mules scored the next five points but Susquehanna did not give up, rebounding to score five of the next six points to trim the lead to 18-17.

Trailing late, Susquehanna came back again with four consecutive points to come within a point at 23-22 but Muhlenberg closed out the match with a pair of kills for the 25-22 win in set four and the 3-1 match victory.

Lowe finished with the double-double and Caroline Beohm added 23 digs while Hannah Lyons had a team-best 13 kills. Kasey Bost added 12 digs and Helen Forman and Gabby Davis combined for 36 assists.

The River Hawks are in action again Wednesday night at Lycoming with a 7 p.m. match in Williamsport.
