Volleyball Stands Tall Against Arcadia

Hannah Lyons had 11 kills, Morgan Lowe added 13 and Tara Mahoney chipped in six kills and three blocks to lead the Susquehanna University Volleyball team to a 3-0 victory over Arcadia University Thursday night in a non-conference match in O.W. Houts Gymnasium in Selinsgrove.

The win for Susquehanna (15-8) is the eighth straight and ninth in the last 10 matches as the River Hawks won by set scores of 25-15, 25-17, 25-20.

Susquehanna won the first two sets comfortably but withstood a challenge in the third set by Arcadia (14-9). The Knights held an 18-16 lead late in the set before the River Hawks rallied. Lowe started the rally with a pair of kills before Sydney Portale added a pair of kills and an assisted block with Mahoney to give Susquehanna a 21-18 lead.

The Knight called a time out to try to slow the rally but Julie Kreutzer served an ace after the break followed by a kill for Mahoney and another block for Mahoney and Lowe to make the score 24-18.

Lowe finished the match two points later with her 13th kill of the night.

Lowe and Lyons combined for 24 kills, Helen Forman handed out 19 assists and Kreutzer added 11 assists in the final set. Kasey Bost and Caroline Beohm had 10 digs each and Lowe recorded nine digs.

The River Hawks return to Landmark Conference play Saturday with a pair of conference matches against Elizabethtown and Moravian at 4 p.m. and 6:30 respectively. Both matches will be played at Moravian.
