Morgan Lowe connected on 18 kills and six digs to lead the Susquehanna University Volleyball team to a 3-0 win over Franklin and Marshall on the first day of competition at the Wid Gusler Memorial Tournament at Juniata College in Huntingdon.
The win for Susquehanna (19-8), ranked seventh in the most recent regional poll, extends the current win streak to 12 matches that dates back to September 27 against Lycoming. The River Hawks won in straight sets by scores of 25-15, 25-12 and 25-22.
"We had great energy out there today," Head Coach Kuuipo Tom said. "F&M had some good attckers and served us pretty hard but the passers responded well and helped greatly. Julie Kreutzer made some great choices and stepped up to better the ball. Our attackers were able to be very successful because of the efforts of our passers and setter."
Lowe led the offense along with Hannah Lyons who registered 11 kills while Sydney Portale and Abby Cannon finished with five kills each. Julie Kreutzer handed out 37 assists and Caroline Beohm led the defense with 15 digs. Her totals against Franklin and Marshall (15-8) put her over 900 digs for her career and currently sits at 901 in her two seasons for Susquehanna.
Susquehanna will play Johnson & Wales and Wesleyan (Conn.) in Saturday matches in the tournament at Juniata.
