Volleyball Celebrates Senior Night with 3-0 Win

Senior Julie Kreutzer handed out 28 assists and fellow senior Morgan Lowe recorded nine kills to lead the Susquehanna University Volleyball team to a 3-0 victory over Penn St. Altoona Thursday night in a non-conference match on O.W. Houts Gymnasium in Selinsgrove.

Susquehanna (20-10), ranked No. 8 in the latest Mid-Atlantic Regional rankings, won the match in straight sets by scores of 25-18, 25-13 and 25-14 and reached the 20-win plateau for the fifth consecutive season and the 10th time in head coach Kuuipo Tom's 15 seasons.

Lowe had four kills in the first set and Sydney Portale added five to give the River Hawks the early lead. Portale finished with seven kills and did not commit an error or miss a single swing with a 1.000 attack percentage.

Hannah Lyons added five kills in the second set and Lowe chipped in another four as Susquehanna was charged with just one attack error in the second set.

In the third set, Natalie Arm registered three kills and Veronica Kirchner came off the bench for another three as the River Hawks finished strong with an attack percentage of .500 for the final set.

Susquehanna finished with nine aces including three from Caroline Beohm who also led the defense with 10 digs. Lyons led the team with five blocks.

Prior to the start of the match, Lowe, Kreutzer and manager Akshay Kripalani were honored for Senior Night recognition.

The River Hawks finish the regular season Saturday with a key Landmark Conference matchup as the top three teams in the conference standings play each other in O.W. Houts Gym. Susquehanna will face Scranton at noon, the Royals will take on Juniata at 2:30 p.m. and Susquehanna will face Juniata at 5 p.m. in the final match of the regular season. The results of Saturday's matches will determine the top three seeds in the Landmark Conference Tournament that begins Nov. 1 at the top two seed host sites.
