Cross Country Sweeps Runner of the Week Awards
MADISON, N.J. – Susquehanna University’s men’s
and women’s cross country teams were honored by the Landmark
Conference for the individual male and female Runners of the Week
for the week ending Sept. 19.
Seniors David Haklar (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern
Lehigh) and Alycia Woodruff (West Chester,
Pa./West Chester East) earned this week’s Landmark
awards for their performances at the Flat Land Invitational at
Mansfield University on Saturday.
Haklar placed third individually out of 51
runners and helped SU finish first as a team. He ran the slightly
longer 8K course in a time of 26 minutes, 32.04 seconds. That time
is good for one of the best times this season in the
conference.
Woodruff was the top finisher among 52 runners at
the Flat Land Invitational. Her 5K time of 19:16.33 is the fastest
of her career and the third fastest in Landmark history. The
Mansfield course was slightly farther than 5K, but
Woodruff crossed the line more than 17 seconds
ahead of the runner-up. The Crusaders finished third as a team.
Both teams will be back in action on Saturday, running at Carnegie Mellon in the Mideast Pre-Regional event. The men start at 10:30 a.m., while the women will race at 11:30 a.m.
